Q: What age is My Rainbow Journal most ideal for?
A: The recommended age range for our journals is 6-12. For kids on the younger side of the range, parents may want to provide some help with reading and writing. We intentionally made many of the prompts open to a written response or illustration, instead of focusing purely on writing. This will both make it easier and less frustrating for kids who are not proficient at writing (or don’t enjoy it - yet!) while encouraging those who love to draw to continue to express themselves through their art.
Q: How long does the journal last? Is there an ideal way to complete it?
A: There is no precise answer for this because it will completely depend on how often your child wants to journal. There are a total of 38 sections with discussion and prompts. On average, we expect My Rainbow Journal to last about 3-4 months. This is a good amount of time for kids to stay interested and engaged and to build new positive habits, like journaling.
We strongly recommend only filling in one section each time your child journals, so that they can give some thought to what they wrote/drew about. Most kids will also have days when they want to write with no guidance at all. For this reason, we also include blank journal pages in the back of each major section for open journaling. To build a habit of journaling, we do recommend sitting down to journal at least a few times a week.
Q: How much do you charge for shipping?
A: Shipping costs vary depending on where you are located and on the products you order. After providing your delivery information during the checkout process, the shipping options and costs will be shown in checkout. Please know that we have done our best to minimize excess packaging to keep the weight as low as possible for shipping prices.
Q: What packaging do you use? Is it environmentally friendly?
At My Rainbow Journal, we are trying our best to reduce the amount of packaging waste being used in the world and will continue to strive to find better alternatives for our environment.
Our bubble mailers from EcoEnclose are made with 50% recycled content, 10% post-consumer waste and are recyclable AND reusable. We wrap journals and notebooks in flap and seal bags made with 100% recycled content (also from EcoEnclose). These are both made in the USA. Individual sticker purchases come in rigid kraft envelopes that are recyclable.
We are a very small business, so please understand if we cannot use 100% eco-friendly packaging at this point. We are trying our best!
